Hi, Iβm Kirsten Miccoli, a photographer and director based in Chicago. For over 19 years, Iβve been creating visual stories for brands, agencies, and publications around the world.
I picked up my first camera at 13 and quickly fell in love with transforming everyday objects and places into imaginative worlds. For years, I explored those ideas through self-portraiture, which taught me firsthand what it feels like to be in front of the camera. That experience still shapes the way I direct talent today.
That instinct has never really left. My work still lives at the intersection of fantasy and reality, pairing carefully constructed visuals with moments that feel spontaneous, genuine, and human. I love being involved from the first idea through the final frame, shaping the visual direction and finding ways to bring an idea to life.
For me, the best work comes from a mix of good people, positive energy, and a set where thereβs room to play. I put a lot of intention into creating an environment that feels warm, collaborative, and genuinely fun, where everyone can experiment, enjoy the process, and bring something of themselves to the work. I love when the people in front of the camera feel free enough to bring their own personality into a moment, because those small choices and natural reactions are often what make the imagery feel alive.
I own my studio in Chicago and work throughout the U.S. and internationally.
When Iβm not on set, you can find me exploring new places, getting lost in a fantasy book, playing D&D with my friends, discovering new music, or hanging out at home with my husband and our little crew of rescued dogs and pigeons.
